Chris Brown-FELONY??

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Chris Brown pled guilty to one count of felony assault against Rihanna today.

As part of his plea bargain, he was given five years probation and 180 days of community labor in Virginia.

According to L.A. Now, he must obey a protective order and a stay-away order, which requires him to stay at least 50 yards away from Rihanna, who did not testify but did appear in court.

She and her lawyer discussed the protective order with the judge, who agreed that because the two might appear at the same events, the 50-yard stay-away would become a 10-yard order.

Ah, red carpet ex-lovers proximity.

Don't ya want to be on the red carpet when Chris is 10 yards from Rihanna? Yeah, like that will ever happen.

Rihanna is also forbidden from contacting Brown.

As if.

Brown's attorney Mark Geragos addressed the media afterward: "This is a kid who has never been in trouble before. He embraces this as a chance to get the message out that domestic violence will not be tolerated. He wants to get his life back on track."

**STATIC THOUGHT**
I by all means DO NOT justify his actions, but a FELONY for this I believe is a little much, and for him to plea to it was pretty dumb. I mean cats do this on a regular (NOT CONDEMNING IT) and only get misdemeanors...Oh well DONT HIT WOMEN!!!

JAY-Z FIRST SINGLE WITH DRAKE!!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
More details surrounding the highly-anticipated collaboration between Jay-Z and Drake for The Blueprint 3's first single have leaked online.
Following-up his street record, "Death of Autotune," Jay's alleged new single was confirmed to feature rap newcomer Drake.

DJ Skee had the opportunity to preview "Off That," Jay's first single from The Blueprint 3. "I don't want to really ruin the surprise," the host of Sirius XM's "Skeetox" radio show reluctantly tells Rap-Up.com. "I mean it's Jay, he's killing it." While he didn't disclose details, he did build anticipation for the record. "Jay sounds pretty incredible, man." Skee confirmed that hip-hop's hottest newcomer, Drake, lends his talent to the song. (Rap-Up)

Skee previously broke the news on Jay's upcoming album via Twitter.

"First single off the new Jay-Z Blueprint 3 album coming Sunday," DJ Skee wrote unmodified on Friday (June 5). "D.O.A. is the street track...Oh...the official OFFICIAL Jay radio single will be called 'Off That' and feature Drake.....Coming July...Last thing about Jay, Blueprint 3 release date IS 9/11. Same day as original Blueprint in 2001. RocNation. Atlantic hired for marketing. Sunday! (DJ Skee's Twitter Page)

Speaking on his "D.O.A." record offending rappers like DJ Webstar, Jay hinted at the production behind his forthcoming LP.

"Nah, he's a young guy," Jay explained in an interview. "So he probably, he doesn't have a full understanding of what I'm saying. So, you know, or maybe he'll understand one day, but right now, he's a young guy. He doesn't know no better...It's a new classic, that's what I like to call it. Kanye [West] is doing the bulk of the production, Timbaland has some incredible records on there and I'm still working on it since I got a little time and can only get better." (WGCI)

The album will be distributed by Atlantic.

"Blueprint 3, I'm ready, I got the foundation and I'm ready to blast off," Jay said in an interview last week. "I'm pretty much at the launching pad right now. I bought my album back, I overpaid for it because I believe at this point in my career, you know, I wanted to be totally independent and free. Def Jam and Universal did a beautiful thing, they let me pay, they overcharged me a little bit, but I appreciate all the years they put into my career...I'm working with Atlantic, they gonna distribute the album. They're dong a fantastic job and by the way, I get a chance to connect with the people I started my career with." (Hot 97)

The Blueprint 3 will reportedly hit stores Friday, September 11th.

Jay-z, Fab, Kanye in New Drake Video

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Toronto MC Drake continues to keep his buzz going as he was recently in Brooklyn filming the video for his hit single, “Best I Ever Had.”

An inside source confirmed with XXLMag.com that Drizzy’s self-described biggest musical influence, Kanye West, is directing the clip. And the all-star cast doesn’t end there. Among cameos from mentor Lil Wayne, Common, Fabolous, Trey Songz and his Young Money crew mates, the video may also have an appearance from Jay-Z. Apparently Hov -who as previously reported, has already recorded material with the aspiring rapper - was on set during the shoot.

The video will have a Degrassi theme according to the inside source. Drake starred on the popular N series before pursuing his career in music. A rough draft for the video is expected to be finished in two weeks.

Nivea, Lauren London pregnant by Weezy-At the same time!!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
For the past week, the blogosphere has been buzzing about rumors that actress Lauren London and rapper Lil Wayne are expecting, as well as Lil Wayne and R&B singer Nivea.

None of the three camps have come out to officially confirm or deny the reports.

Among the blog chatter is Bossip.com's source who claims: Lauren and Wayne weren’t happy about the pregnancy initially, but they “have accepted it and chosen to raise the baby together.” Everyone’s all smiles now and very excited about the new baby. Lauren says that she’s “not worried about the pregnancy affecting her career,” and doesn’t really care about what people think. She’s stayed very positive throughout this entire time. Lauren and Lil Wayne have decided not to live together or continue with their five year “on again, off again” relationship at this time.

Lauren London is indeed 5 months pregnant! This time it’s not just another empty rumor. And that’s the reason we haven’t seen her out and about in the last 3 months. She actually made one appearance since February and it was at the Next Day Air premiere last week. But interestingly, all her pictures were only taken from the bust and up. ….our source–who’s actually a Hollywood celebrity themselves–slipped up in a recent convo with YBF and spilled the beans. As for the father of Lauren’s baby–we’re told she confirmed it’s Lil Wayne! Yes, we’re serious. Remember when we posted exclusive pics of the ex-couple back in Weezy’s hometown of New Orleans? We got further confirmation of Lauren’s pregnancy from a celeb’s manager. Apparently said manager received a movie role for his client after it was first offered to Lauren. When the manager asked why Lauren wouldn’t take the role, the manager was made aware of Lauren’s pregnancy status. We’re told Lauren’s taking time off from her career as her current conditions aren’t “favorable” right now.

As for Nivea, rumor has it that not only did Lil Wayne get her pregnant, but he's also about to put a ring on her finger. The two were previously engaged, but broke things off in 2003. She went on to marry hip hop producer The Dream, with whom she had three children. They divorced last year.

In a statement to BlackCelebKids.com, celebrity photographer FreddyO says: I would like to be the first to send my congratulations to [Nivea] and her baby daddy soon-to-be husband Wayne. The two are said to be marrying within the next few months. Hummmm I wonder about that. Wayne will also be having a child with the one and only Ms. Lauren London who is also pregnant by him . WOW…. I wonder what they said when they both found out about each other…

Reports have both Nivea and London due to deliver in September. If all is true, the babies will be Lil Wayne's third and fourth children by four different women. Most recently, he sired a son, 6 month-old Dwayne Carter III, by a reported model. He also has a 10 year-old daughter, Reginae, by his ex-wife Antonia “Toya” Carter.

ASHER ROTH'S PRE-ALBUM REVIEW

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
On a cold New York afternoon, Asher Roth gathered a small group of journalists to preview his debut album, Asleep in the Bread Aisle, due out April 20. While a few finishing touches still need to be put in place, the album is essentially done. The Pennsylvania rapper warns those listening to put aside any expectations for good reason; while he still shows shades of the jokey freestyle MC heard on mixtapes, Asher’s songwriting proves he’s bringing more than a bunch of funny punch lines.

One of the biggest surprises on the album is Oren Yoel, an unknown producer whose beat got to Asher’s people by a stroke of luck. Upon hearing Yoel’s one track, Asher met, bonded with, and ended up working on the bulk of the album with him. Yoel’s tracks provide a cohesive sound to the album and complement Asher’s lyrics by bringing something new to the table.

“If no one else is going to say what I want to say, then I’m just going to,” Asher explains simply of the album’s tone. Asher forgoes the fantasy life of most of his predecessors and sticks to everyday subjects that rap fans can relate to, even if it is more fun to pretend to go to the clubs and “make it rain.” But that doesn’t mean Asher Roth isn’t having fun with his music; he’s just doing it with a few beers instead of champagne.

As usual, a few details of the album are sure to change by its release date, but based on the goods we heard, Asher Roth is in the perfect position to defy expectations and actually live up to his hype.

Check out the official tracklisting below, which includes 13 records featuring rapper Ludacris, pop duo Chester French, and funky MC/producer Cee-Lo, plus production from Don Cannon, Novel, and more.

1. “Lark On My Go-Kart”
Produced by Oren Yoel

A hard break and fuzzy pianos back Asher on this straight-forward opener. No hooks or odd structures, just Asher on the mic making sure listeners know that even though he doesn’t like to call himself a rapper, he’s got rhymes galore.

2. “Blunt Cruisin’”
Produced by Oren Yoel

Heading more towards the conceptual songwriting that Asher prefers, he tells a story about smoking blunts in his homeboy’s car and provides listeners instructions on the best ways to do the same. The beat speeds and slows throughout, moving fluidly with Asher’s funny-because-it’s-true verses.

3. “I Love College”
Produced by Mike Caren & Ben Allen

A little bit of old-school hip-hop and a little bit of folk rock blend together behind Asher revealing how much fun college is if you don’t count going to class. The first single, “College” is a good display of Asher’s ability to be humorous while still staying grounded in reality.

4. “Bad Day” featuring Jazze Pha
Produced by Oren Yoel

Jazze provides the hook to this story about a really aggravating trip on the way to a friend’s wedding. Anyone who’s flown commercial in the last 10 years will know exactly why something as seemingly mundane as a trip to the airport can easily turn into a horror story and Asher takes the opportunity to tell his.

5. “Be By Myself” featuring Cee-Lo
Produced by Oren Yoel

This is one of the tracks that Asher is most excited about. During the listening, Cee-Lo’s vocals hadn’t been mixed into the track yet, but his unmistakable sound on the references that we heard is something to be excited about. What Asher’s not excited about, however, is dating the girl he’s talking to in this song, explaining to her that he’d rather just be by himself.

6. “Sour Patch Kids”
Produced by Oren Yoel

Asher gets political with commentary similar to his “A Milli” freestyle. His management hinted that there’s a possibility of a well-known, conscious-minded MC jumping on this track at the last minute, but the specifics were kept quiet.

7. “She Don’t Wanna Man”
Produced by Oren Yoel

This is a possible second single and probably the most pop-ish song on the album. On a song that he says was inspired by his two older sisters, Asher talks about a girl headed to the club to have a good time with her friends instead of being hounded by guys. Various names are being discussed to sing the hook (i.e. Lady GaGa, Keri Hilson, Jazmine Sullivan, Estelle).

8. “As I Em” featuring Chester French
Produced by Oren Yoel

Asher knows critics compare him to Eminem, especially since the topic has come up in every single interview he’s done since his career took off. He takes the opportunity to deal with the subject, acknowledging the complexity of the issue and, hopefully, putting the issue to rest once and for all. “If I don’t talk about what people are already thinking,” he says, “then they’ll just keep thinking that. You have to go at the blockage.”

9. “His Dream” featuring Miguel
Produced by Oren Yoel

In an attempt to make a positive hip-hop song about an MC’s father, Asher pays tribute to his father who sacrificed his own dreams of becoming a writer to provide for the family. Asher talks about carrying the torch for his father’s dreams and thanks him for making his music career possible.

10. “La Di Da”
Produced by Don Cannon

Another possible single, Asher brushes off the frustrations of life and the game on a soulful beat from Don Cannon (Ludacris, Busta Rhymes).

11. “Leo the Lion” featuring Ludacris
Produced by Oren Yoel

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to hear Luda’s verse but judging by the bouncy, syncopated track and Asher’s rapid-fire flow, he’ll be right at home. Oren Yoel continues to show his diversity, moving from the more traditional style he uses on much of the album to a more modern party-starter.

12. “Fallin’”
Produced by Novel

This is the story of Asher’s courtship with hip-hop and his rhyming beginnings. Any hip-hop fan will probably identify with parts of this tale and think back to the records, tapes, and CDs from their own younger days.

13. “Nothing You Can’t Do”
Produced by Nottz

As it would turn out, in between the blunts and keg stands, Asher was in college studying to become a teacher, a job that he still actually plans to go back to one day. He gets inspirational for the closer, reminding listeners that there’s nothing they can’t do if they put their minds to it since life is too short to waste on nonsense.

CHRIS AND RHIANNA TOGETHER AGAIN!!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
For all those that said his career was over, she'd be a fool to take him back, he's a monster etc... etc... etc... What do you have to say now that the tabloids are reporting a Chris Brown/Rihanna reunion in Miami?

Just shy of three weeks after 19-year-old Chris Brown allegedly violently assaulted Rihanna a source tells PEOPLE the two have reconciled.

"They're together again. They care for each other," says the source. "While Chris is reflective and saddened about what happened, he is really happy to be with the woman he loves."

The couple are reportedly currently spending time together at one of Sean "Diddy" Combs's homes, on Miami Beach's Star Island.

This should come as little to no surprise considering Rihanna's responses (or lack thereof) so far, as well as the tabloids pretty much saying for the last few weeks that "she loves him and still wants to be with him." While part of me is ready to ask that classic Amy Winehouse question "What kind of f***ery is this?" the other part is reminded that "All is fair in love and war." At this point I'm really hoping that there is some explanation for Rihanna's bruises than Chris Brown's fists because there are probably a lot of young confused fans out there who just aren't gonna get it.

Rihanna's father, Ronald Fenty, as saying, "I love my daughter with whatever road she takes. I'm behind her win or lose. I will be supportive. If that's the road she wants to choose, I'm behind her. I hope to see her soon. I talked to her after her birthday, and she told me she's OK."

***STATIC THOUGHT***
JUST LET THEM DO THEM LEAVE THEM BE...THIS TYPE OF STUFF HAPPENS ON A REGULAR NOT THAT IT'S RIGHT BUT IF THEY FEEL COMPELLED TO BE WITH EACHOTHER THAN BY ALL MEANS DO SO...

SOULJA BOY: "I'M NOT REAL HIP-HOP"!!...AH DUH!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Here's some news that you probably already knew, Soulja Boy doesn't do "real" hip-hop. Gasp! A week after saying he planned to dumb down his next album following his failed attempt at highbrow rap, the teenybopper rapper came clean on why he doesn't consider his music "real" hip-hop. During an interview at Los Angeles radio station 102.7 KIISFM, Soulja was asked why he's attacked by others for not doing real hip-hop.

"Cause what I do to them is not true hip-hop. One day we was in New York listening to the radio, I don't know what station it was, but they was rapping, and dude came in like 'this is real hip-hop'. I was like you know what I'm like the total opposite of that. I don't do nothing like that. That's why when they be like 'Soulja Boy I don't like you, you not hip-hop', I be like cool. I done heard what they call real hip-hop and my music don't sound nothing like that."

Duh! The fact that it took him this long to figure this out is scary. I guess he wasn't listening when Ice-T said he wasn't real hip-hop. Lost in between the multiple suggestions that Soulja Boy "eat a d*ck", Ice pointed out several reasons why Soulja wasn't making real hip-hop.

T.I. Responds To Recent 50 Cent Jab, “We All Know His Intentions”

One rapper who refuses to play along in 50 Cent’s war games is fellow superstar T.I. In an interview with XXLmag.com, the Atlanta MC addressed an apparent diss from 50’s ongoing “Officer Ricky” cartoon series that poked fun at his October 2007 arrest for weapons possession. [Watch Below]

Sidestepping the beef, Tip denied seeing the video that depicted an animated Rick Ross cuffing and then interrogating him. “I haven’t seen it but, we all know dude,” he said of Fif. “We all know his intentions, we all know his motives. We’ve seen this too many times before. You know, I play chess, not checkers, you dig? I ain’t even trippin’ off of that. At the end of the day, I’m more worried or concerned about what a man says to me or what a man does to me, not what he says or does in the eyes of the public.”

50 has taken shots at T.I. in the past, notably on the song “You So Tough” off of G-Unit’s last album, Terminate On Sight. Insinuating that the “King of the South” had snitched in order to retain a lighter jail sentence, Fif spit, “How do you explain how homey breeeze /They said keep ya mouth shut or you eatin’ the cheese.”

As he did then, T.I. continues to shrug off any attempts to undermine his rep. “I’m a real dude,” he said, “a stand up guy with integrity, respect, morals, standards, [and] principles, and anything outside of that I ain’t got nothing to do with.”

Tip is scheduled to serve one year behind bars next month as part of his sentence for felony weapons charges. - Devin Chanda with reporting by Anthony Roberts

Bow Wow Still A Lame...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
What does this lil dude know about "New Jack City"?

Back in '87-- the same year Bow Wow was born-- a journalist by the name of Barry Michael Cooper wrote an article in The Village Voice entitled "Kids Killing Kids: New Jack City Eats Its Young," which was about the youth drug trade. After that article dropped, the phrase "New Jack City" caught like wildfire and spread all over each and every city that fit the description.

Description of what? That's the same question that comes to mind when I think of Bow Wow's upcoming album New Jack City Part II.

Bow Wow's image, and presumably the contents inside of this jewel case soon to be available in stores, does NOT FIT the definition of what "New Jack City" is. At all. Nor does Bow Wow and his "rapping" relate to anything in "New Jack City" Part ONE-- a motion picture that was released back in 1991. Which leaves me utterly confused.

And then we have Bow Wow's current lead single "You Can Get It All," which samples TLC's "Baby Baby Baby"-- a song that was #1 during the time when the New Jack Swing subgenre was at its height.

With all of the above stated, am I missing something here? What is J.D trying to accomplish? Shock value? Suggesting that anything that was "New York's" can now be taken and used by anyone? If this was the intention, then it failed. Because A) I'm the only one that took note. Aka, nobody cares. And B), Bow Wow's fans are too young to even know what the hell New Jack City means. They probably think it's a new phrase.

And I actually took the time to watch Bow Wow's new video. The mixing is horrible. Especially when the singer comes in with the bridge. The lyrics sounds like Bow Wow actually wrote his own rhymes this time around. And that's not a good thing.

I'm glad the phrase "New Jack City" has been basically long forgotten. Because Bow Wow here has turned it into something cheesy. I can't even say "corny," which is an understatement. Even the album cover-- which freeze frames Bow Wow doing a jumping jack with Hammer pants on-- is a more ghastly image than Harlem streets back in '87.

Looking at what "The Source" did with putting Bow Wow and J.D on the cover just makes sh*t worse. And just when I thought "The Source" was making a turn-around.

Chris Brown's Downward Spiral Begins!!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Wrigley’s has suspended Chris Brown’s Doublemint ads until his legal problems are settled.
The statement just released says, “Wrigley is concerned by the serious allegations made against Chris Brown. We believe Mr. Brown should be afforded the same due process as any citizen. However, we have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and any related marketing communications until the matter is resolved.”

Chris, 19, surrendered himself to LAPD Sunday night for an alleged assault on 20-year-old girlfriend Rihanna.

T.I.'s Show Airing Tonight...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
After performing at this year's Grammy's, T.I. is ready for more television appearances. The rapper/actor is readying a reality program premier on MTV for his new show, "Road to Redemption." Recently, he spoke on his show and more regarding his impact on youth.
The show will take on young people with turmoil in their lives. Some have had trouble in their past. Others may have had limited resources and others have tough decisions to make. T.I. will surprise the kids and take a "scared straight" approach to creating change in their lives.
"They know I'm not speaking just from hearsay; I speak from experience," he told the Los Angeles Times. "I've been through what they're going through, I've done all the things they're doing. And if they see I can make it to where I am, there surely is a possibility for them to make it to where they want to be."
The idea of helping "at risk" youth was not exactly the idea MTV came to T.I. with at first. Instead, producers approached the emcee about a different concept for a show, but he was not in favor of it.
The original idea, according to Tip, was "putting cameras in [T.I.'s] house and watching him while he can't leave. I wasn't with that. I didn't think that was significant enough."

With his name in bright lights and with his musical influence on young people everywhere, he hopes he can impact these kids' lives in a positive manner.
"If I can't get through to them, nobody can."
As he hopes to create a positive change in others' lives, he may still face change in his own. The official sentencing for a variety of charges he faces is next month.
The new program premiers Tuesday night on MTV.

2009 Jordan Exclusives

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High - Blue Sapphire which we saw previewed two months ago appears to have gotten some changes made to it. Back in December ‘08 when we first caught a look at the Blue Sapphire Air Jordan 1 Retro the upper consisted of 100% nylon. A recent shot of the Air Jordans posted on Kenlu shows up a newer updated look at the shoes. Jordan Brand has dumped the nylon design and replaced it with nothing but Blue Sapphire patent leather.

Watch for the now patent leather Air Jordan 1 Retro High - Blue Sapphire to hit JB retailers on March 14th. Hit the jump to take a look at the originally posted preview incase you missed it.

YOUNG JEEZY SHOOTING BACK AT BILL O'REILLY

President Obama's stimulus plan...In detail...

Photobucket

The House passed its $819 billion version of the economic stimulus package last week. Now it's the Senate's turn.

The near-$900 billion package the Senate will debate and likely vote on this week is largely the same as the House bill. There are a few key differences: The Senate bill adds $71 billion in Alternative Minimum Tax relief for working families and a $300 payment to seniors, disabled people and others who can't work. It also would suspend taxes on unemployment benefits.

And those are probably not the only differences between the Senate and House bills. The Senate is likely to take up numerous amendments, including a Democratic proposal to expand infrastructure spending and a Republican proposal to lock in low mortgage rates and expand a homebuyers' tax credit.

What are some of the headline proposals, and what is the debate all about? The legislation is a work in progress, but here is an overview.

Infrastructure
The case for it: By investing in renewable energy, health care, education and construction projects, the Obama administration expects to create between 3 million and 4 million jobs and address key sustainability issues.

The case against it: Opponents argue the spending will lead to a rapidly increasing and unsustainable deficit. They also say that a majority of infrastructure projects will take too long to implement.

Construction projects: $90 billion. Fund the rebuilding of crumbling roads and bridges, build clean water and flood-control mechanisms and provide funding for mass-transit systems.

Education: $142 billion. Rebuild thousands of schools by modernizing classrooms, labs and libraries.

Renewable energy: $54 billion. Double production of alternative energy in the next three years. Weatherize low-income homes, modernize 75% of federal buildings and update the nation's electrical grid with a new, cost-efficient "smart" grid.

Health-care records: $20 billion. Modernize the health care system by computerizing all of the nations' medical records in the next five years.

Science, research and technology: $16 billion. Invest in science facilities, research and instrumentation to create new industries, new jobs and medical breakthroughs. Expand broadband Internet access in rural and underserved areas.

State relief
The case for it: As states face budget shortfalls, the stimulus plan seeks to help states pay for Medicaid and unemployment benefits. State fiscal relief will be allocated to prevent increases in state and local taxes, or cuts in government services.

The case against it: Opponents say the bill should focus on job creation that will make an immediate impact the economy.

Medicaid: $87 billion. Increase Federal Medicaid Assistance Percentage so states do not have to cut eligibility for Medicaid due to budget shortfalls.

Law enforcement: $4 billion for states and municipalities for law enforcement.

Safety net
The case for it: Obama proposed temporary programs to protect those most vulnerable to the effects of the recession.

The case against it: As with state budget relief, opponents say the bill is too big and should simply aim to create new jobs. Some lawmakers have said some of the "safety net" spending provisions are wasteful, and many have called the bill unfocused.

Unemployment benefits: $43 billion. Extend through December 2009 emergency unemployment insurance assistance to states. Increase weekly unemployment benefits by $25, and provide incentives for states to expand unemployment coverage. The Senate Finance proposal also includes a $4.7 billion measure that would temporarily suspend the taxation of unemployment benefits.

Cobra: $39 billion. Tax credit for recently laid-off employees to help pay for discounted health care. Obama estimates the plan will help 8.5 million people who recently lost their jobs.

Feeding the hungry: $20 billion. Increase food stamp benefits by 13%, and provide support for food banks, school lunch programs and WIC.

Tax cuts for individuals
The case for it: Throughout his campaign, the president pushed for tax cuts for low- and middle-income families. As a form of stimulus, tax breaks have the added advantage of being paid out faster than other provisions in the bill, and economists say those income groups are most likely to spend rather than save the money.

The case against it: Opponents say the size of tax cuts for both individuals and businesses do not go far enough and don't make up a big enough portion of the entire package. Furthermore, they oppose giving tax breaks to people who get back more money from the government than they pay in income and payroll taxes.

Middle-class tax cut: $145 billion. Tax cut amounting to $500 a year for individuals and $1,000 for couples. The full credit would be limited to those making $75,000 or less ($150,000 or less for workers filing joint returns).

Tax cut for Social Security and disability recipients: $17 billion. The Senate version includes a $300 one-time payment to people who cannot work or are too old to work, including disabled or retired people receiving Social Security payments. The provision is not in the House legislation.

Low-income tax cut: $5 billion. Expand the Earned Income Tax Credit, which is a refundable credit for low-income workers. Furthermore, the Make Work Pay Credit would be refundable, meaning that even tax filers without any tax liability -- typically very low-income workers - would receive one.

Child tax credit: Up to $18 billion. Temporarily increase the amount of the child tax-credit that would be refundable. The Senate's increase is smaller, costing $8 billion less than the House version.

Alternative Minimum Tax: $70 billion. The Senate bill would protect middle- and upper middle-income taxpayers from the AMT, which was intended primarily for high-income taxpayers. But in recent years it has threatened to engulf those lower down the income scale. That provision was not in the House bill.

Tax cuts for businesses
The case for it: Obama's plan seeks to help ease the tax burden for small businesses, as well as allow companies suffering losses to get some tax relief by applying losses to more years in which they booked a profit.

The case against it: Opponents say too small of a percentage of the total package goes to business tax breaks.

Small business write-offs: Obama would increase the amount of expenses small businesses can write off to $250,000 in 2009 and 2010 from the current $125,000 level.

Tax cuts for companies suffering losses: Up to $17 billion over 10 years. Obama would temporarily broaden the "net-operating loss carryback" to five years, up from two years currently. The provision would let companies apply their 2008 and 2009 losses to past and future tax bills so they can get money back on taxes they've already paid or would otherwise have to pay. The Senate allows 100% of those losses to be carried back, and the House allows for 90%.

Energy tax break: The Senate proposal includes an $11 billion measure to make it easier for businesses to claim valuable tax credits for investing in energy. The House bill does not include this proposal.

Good Music...No Album

Every half assed hip-hop head spends a decent amount of time in their life making their own personal “Top 5 Dead or Alive” lists with their friends, and then wastes even more time by battling it out about the lists in question. Then there’s the “greatest album” rankings, or the “Unsigned Hype” type lists, but here at SarcasticDBag.com, we try to ignore all that.

The rappers we feature today fall under a different category, and these 3 young men are all signed (by major labels) have all dropped some dope material (mixtapes, videos, etc.), and are all about 6 months away from becoming bigger than cigarettes.

The only thing they haven’t done is drop an album.

So, in no particular order, SarcasticDBag.com presents the “Top 3 Rappers Without an Album” list. It’s official by the way. No arguments allowed, even though there are thousands of rappers out there who deserve this distinction.

Signed To: SRC Records a.k.a. Steve Rifkind’s spot a.k.a Wu-Tang and Akon’s spot a.k.a under the Universal banner.

Reps: Any suburb or college campus, but he lives in Atlanta and comes from Pennsylvania.

Notable Achievement: Noted drinking game enthusiast: “I am champ-e-yawn, at beer pong/Allen Iver-sawn, Hakeem Olajuwon”

Why you should care:

Haters and doubters will say “he’s corny, he’s white, he’s nerdy, he’s preppy and his voice sounds exactly like Eminem.”

But…he’s got killer flow, he’s clever, he’s funny, he can spit and his voice sounds exactly like Eminem.

Enough said.

So check out Asher Roth’s material. “I Love College” is laid back and poppy while “The Lounge” sounds like some classic back packer type ish (labels are wack though). But you have get his mixtape because Mr. Roth is very versatile, and all the while he maintains a sharp wit and an even sharper sense of humor.

Asher Roth - I Love College

Asher Roth - The Lounge

Asher Roth - The Greenhouse Effect Mixtape

Charles Hamilton

Photobucket

Signed to: Interscope

Reps: Harlem and Cleveland, but he has a certain fondness for Brooklyn Girls.

Notable Achievement: Successfully sampling a Willy Wonka song and making it a hot record. That’s ballsy.

Why you should care:

To put it bluntly, Charles Hamilton is a cocky muthafucka, but wouldn’t you be if you were only 20 years old and producing some of the dopest beats and rhymes out there?

It’s nice to hear a rapper with an immense amount of swag and the lyrical and musical talent to back it all up with. Mr. Hamilton is surely one of New York’s brightest lights and you should definitely check out his single “Brooklyn Girls” and add his mixtape to your iTunes library. You will not be disapointed.

Charles Hamilton - Brooklyn Girls

Charles Hamilton - Outside Looking

Wale

Photobucket

Signed to: Allido Records a.k.a. Mark Ronson’s spot a.k.a. Interscope.

Reps: DCMarylandVirginia, but he’s actually from Washington D.C.

Notable Achievement: Besides the mixtapes, he probably banged Lindsay Lohan (achievement? you decide).

Why you should care:

Wale (pronounced Wah-lay, or Wall Eh if you’re Canadian) is signed to Mark Ronson’s label Allido Records and has consistently dropped classic mixtapes, the most recent being the Seinfeld inspired “Mixtape About Nothing”. This guy can spit and has a real appreciation for a quality product. His mixtapes aren’t full of filler and they provide entertaining and insightful lyrics from beginning to end. Hopefully he’ll be the spark that causes his under-repped region to blow up.

So check out the “Feature Heavy Song” and the two mixtapes provided because Wale goes hard, and you need these in your library.

Wale - The Feature Heavy Song (featuring Bun B and Pusha T of the Clipse)

Wale - The Mixtape About Nothing

Wale - Paint A Picture Mixtape

Hip Hop Spring Fashion: TI, ODB, & Andre 3000

TI Designs T for Play Boy

In Hip Hop fashion news, always staying on his hustle, Atlanta rapper TI has designed a custom line of T-Shirts for Play Boy's second annual Rock The Rabit campaign.

TI is one of twenty others who will be adding their personal touch to Play Boy's rabbit head logo, his line of T's will be available at Bloomingdale's nationwide and at RockTheRabit.com.

Official ODB Clothing Hits The WebThe official clothing line of late Wu Tang rapper, ODB, is now available via ODB's online store Merchdirect/Odb.

In early January 2008, the New York-based MerchDirect announced that they had signed a deal with the estate of Russell Jones, aka “Ol’ Dirty Bastard” to produce and sell “authorized merchandise/wearable art sanctioned by widow Icelene Jones”

Since his death 3 years ago, between fifteen to twenty-two companies have been selling “unauthorized ODB shirts” without a penny being paid to his estate.

MerchDirect will generate revenue for the estate’s rightful heirs as well as properly promote ODB’s contribution to the world of rap music.

Andre 3000 Preps Spring Clothing LineAndre 3000 has been hard at work as of late, from movies to music, the ATLIEN will now be trying his hand at fashion.

According to NY Mag, Andre's upcoming fashion line, Benjamin Bixby, is inspired by early 19th century looks such as vintage football uniforms.

Consisting of 70 pieces, the line is currently self-funded (he’s looking for a partner) and, he hopes, will be at Barneys in the fall.

Andre says he wants his clothing line to "tell a story."

Benjamin Bixby, he says, “is a character who’s kind of like your uncle, or your granddad, and he has a closet full of experiences and clothes, and he’s been around the world.”
